Deft Solutions

I worked on Deft MD, an immersive medical training platform created with Atlantic Studios to help clinicians improve diagnostic performance through clinically focused VR experiences.

The project uses immersive simulation, expert-led content, and performance data to support more personalised medical education. Rather than treating VR as a one-off training experience, Deft MD is designed as a platform for measuring clinical decision-making, identifying skill gaps, and helping doctors move from competence toward excellence.

The first module focuses on upper GI endoscopy, addressing the real clinical challenge of missed early cancer and high-risk pre-malignant disease. In the experience, clinicians can practise identifying important visual features in a realistic environment, receive structured feedback, and build confidence in a safe, repeatable setting.

My work focused on development of the immersive experience, helping translate specialist medical knowledge into an interactive training tool. The challenge was to make the experience accurate and useful for clinicians while keeping the interaction clear, focused, and comfortable inside VR.

A key part of the project was balancing realism with usability. Medical training needs precision, but it also needs to respect the user's attention and cognitive load. The experience had to present complex clinical information in a way that felt natural to explore, without overwhelming the user or distracting from the learning goal.
